Support the Promise of Gamecock Athletics

The University of South Carolina Department of Athletics operates in harmony with the University’s stated purposes and goals. Student-athletes are encouraged to continually demonstrate attitudes of self-discipline, group loyalty, good sportsmanship, and personal integrity; an appreciation for the benefits of hard work, motivation, and perseverance; and a feeling of pride in accomplishment.

ABOUT Gamecock ATHLETICS

Starting with baseball in 1892, the University of South Carolina has built a proud tradition of intercollegiate sports for men and women. South Carolina now fields 20 teams and competes in the Southeastern Conference. Led by Athletics Director Eric Hyman, the department identifies four key components needed to create championship programs: a prominent University committed to its athletics program; a vibrant community that can be proudly presented to recruits; excellent coaches; and outstanding facilities.

HALLMARKS & RANKINGS

  • South Carolina student-athletes' GPAs consistently rank at the top of the Southeastern Conference.
  • Baseball, 2010 College World Series Champions
  • Men’s Basketball, 2005 and 2006 NIT Champions
  • Equestrian, 2005 and 2007 National Champions

PRIORITIES

The Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center, affectionately known as “The Dodie,” is the centerpiece of a $200 million athletics facilities master plan. Opened in 2010, the $13 million center tops Athletics Director Eric Hyman's building priorities, reinforcing the University's commitment to success in the classroom as much as in competition. Over the next several years, a number of new athletics fields and venues are planned to open within “The Roost,” a 41-acre site anchored by “The Dodie” (pictured above). Carolina Stadium, the 6,800-seat riverfront home of the national champion South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team, opened in 2009. Your support for general athletics scholarships is also critical to ensure the University of South Carolina’s potential for championships within the Southeastern Conference and nationally.
