Support the Promise
of USC Salkehatchie

The Salkehatchie campus was established in 1965 as a regional center of the University of South Carolina as the result of local civic commitment and momentum.  The academic program started with eight part-time faculty and 76 students. Today, approximately 1,100 students enroll each term and are taught by 25 full-time faculty.  As the campus has grown, so has its educational, cultural, and economic impact on the rural Lowcountry.

About USC Salkehatchie

The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie -- created to encourage higher education access in the counties of Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton and Hampton -- opens up important opportunities to students who are placebound or desire to attend college closer to home.

Salkehatchie expects to continue to make a difference in the lives of local citizens as the institution enters its fifth decade of service to rural South Carolina.

Students at USC Salkehatchie are enrolled in the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs, plus the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Liberal Studies, the Bachelor of Organizational Leadership (in partnership with USC Columbia) and the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (in partnership with USC Aiken).  Student enrollment has increased more than 30 percent over the past five years.
