Support the Promise
of Business

Since its founding in 1919 as the School of Commerce, the Darla Moore School of Business has grown into a thriving site of academic excellence, with an enrollment of nearly 4,000 undergraduate students and over 800 graduate students. The faculty is composed of 123 teachers, scholars, and practitioners whose expertise covers the full range of business disciplines and who were themselves educated at many of the finest universities in the world.

About the Darla Moore School of Business

The Moore School is perhaps best known for its outstanding leadership in international business education and research. For the past 15 years, the school's undergraduate major in international business has been ranked No. 1 in that specialty, and its International Master of Business Administration program has been ranked No. 1 or No. 2 for 20 years by U.S. News & World Report.

In the 2011 Global MBA Rankings by the Financial Times of London, Moore's MBA program ranks No. 2 in the International Business category.

HALLMARKS & RANKINGS
  • #1 in the undergraduate international business specialty in the survey of U.S. News & World Report's 'America's Best Colleges.'
  • #1 public university MBA program for international business and #2 among all institutions in that specialty. (U.S. News & World Report).
  • #2 for best 'international experience' among the world's top 100 business schools. (Financial Times).
  • #3 for 'fastest return' on an MBA student's education investment. (Business Week).
  • One of five educational institutions in the country, and the only one in
the Southeast, to serve as a U.S. Department of Education Center for
International Business and Education Research (CIBER).

In the fall of 2009, we launched two new innovative programs to further advance our cutting-edge delivery of international business programming. The first is a Master of International Business (MIB) program, an intensive, one-year, interdisciplinary program that provides an advanced understanding of the interactions of business, government, and society.

The other is a collaborative undergraduate degree program with the Chinese University of Hong Kong that includes two years of study in Hong Kong and will ultimately build a U.S.-Chinese partnership capable of conducting business in both cultures.

On September 23, 2011 we broke ground on a new home for the Darla Moore School of Business at the gateway to the Innovista, the University’s innovative research district in downtown Columbia. When completed in 2013, the new facility will feature cutting-edge architecture and technology for our students and faculty, and also reflect state-of-the-art, high-performance and sustainable design.

We have also embarked on a theme of sustainable enterprise and development to complement our international business expertise and meet our school’s desire to be socially, organizationally and environmentally innovative and responsible.

We're honored that the Moore School was selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) in 2010 to partner with DOE national laboratories in its Net-Zero Energy Commercial Building Partnership program. This prestigious program will help the Moore School reach its ambitious goal of achieving net-zero energy consumption in its new building.

Strengthened by the firm foundation of support from USC alumnae Darla Moore and other passionate alumni and friends, the Moore School is positioned to increase its impact on business and society, as well as expand its global reputation as a leader among business schools.
