Supporting Facilities

First-rate facilities strengthen Carolina’s ability to recruit and retain faculty and students,  to connect with our alumni, and to provide an environment that enables them to realize their full potential.

Philanthropy improves the quality of Carolina’s classrooms, laboratories and athletic facilities – by supplementing diminishing state funds and bond revenues or by funding excellent facilities that otherwise could not be built at all. 

In addition to the capacity being added on our Innovista research campus, Carolina needs to add and renovate approximately 3,000,000 square feet of space over the next several years through projects such as:

• Replacing outdated classrooms and offices on all eight campuses.

• Adding instructional space and student housing to accommodate rising enrollment.

• Building modern, state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories.

• Constructing an Alumni Center to provide a central home for alumni.

• Providing venues for student concerts and performances.

• Developing nationally competitive academic support and competition facilities for our student-athletes.
