Do faculty and staff care about their institution? Are they proud of their work? Do they truly believe in the great promise of the University?

The answers to these questions reflect whether an organization's most important resource - its people - feel invested and excited about the direction its heading.  If the answer is "yes," it tells the world (including prospective individual donors, foundation and business philanthropists) that the University is strong from within.  It also says we're an excellent choice for their investment.

Staff Giving back: Viki Sox Fecas, Family Fund Co-Chair

Student career counselor is "mom" to many, role model for philanthropy

Viki Sox Fecas, a University Career Services program manager and counselor, has been described as "my mom away from home" by a South Carolina student body president. Whether advising students on career choices, teaching University 101 sections, or aiding transfer students, Sox Fecas has spent her South Carolina career helping students enroll, graduate, and succeed beyond college.

 As a Family Fund co-chair representing Carolina staff, her alma mater continues to call upon her leadership skills. A member of the President's Society, Sox Fecas has taken on yet another leadership role in giving back to her University.

Providing yearly support to the Annual Fund is an essential part of her support.

"I feel that part of the leadership responsibility I have to the University of South Carolina involves demonstrating visible ways in which giving back to the University makes Carolina stronger.

Our students are directly impacted in a positive manner when staff, alumni and University friends give to our programs."
