About Annual Giving

Annual Giving is essential to the operation of the University of South Carolina.  Each year, Carolina's loyal alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff are asked to support the University through the Carolina Fund or any of the 14 school/college annual funds.  These vital, annual gifts support every student by bridging the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing an education.  Annual gifts are a key source of expendable support that has an impact on virtually everything at the University of South Carolina.

The Programs

Carolina Callers

The Carolina Callers come from a myriad of colleges and schools and possess a great passion for the University. These students speak with over 85,000 prospects a year and help secure over $1 million annually for School/College initiatives, Carolina Fund, scholarships/fellowships, University Libraries, and academic programs. Our state-of-the-art call center allows our students to contact alumni, friends, parents and graduating seniors on a year-round basis. Dollars generated through the call center help provide what tuition and state support do not.  

Family Fund

The faculty and staff annual campaign at the University of South Carolina, known as the Family Fund, provides Carolina employees with the opportunity to enrich their professional careers and support the students we serve. 

Face of Y’ALL

Y’ALL, Young Alumni Leaving a Legacy, is a campaign for Carolina’s graduates of the last decade. Young alumni are encouraged to support the academic area they are most passionate  about.  Participation at any level is the overarching mission with this group who will one day be recognized as Carolina’s major donors, planned gift donors, board volunteers and leaders.   

Reunions

The 50th reunions are a significant time for many graduates. These monumental achievements are highlighted with a class gift campaign and include festivities during May Carolina.\

Senior Class Legacy

The Senior Class Legacy campaign is an annual giving program designed for graduating seniors to leave their mark and support future SC students. This commitment begins a lifetime of involvement with the University of South Carolina and allows seniors to take part in the educational experience of tomorrow's students.

The Campaign funds scholarships, enhances classrooms and provides for a better learning experience for generations to come. By making a gift of $20.12, you can add your name to the class of 2012 senior plaque that hangs in the Thomas Cooper Library.

SPURS

SPURS, Students Promoting the University’s Reach for Success, is the University’s student philanthropy education program. Through peer-to-peer outreach and campus programming, SPURS creates awareness about the importance of private giving and builds a stronger culture of philanthropy among the student body.

Communication Efforts

Direct Mail

The Office of Annual Giving coordinates ongoing solicitations for support in a fiscal year cycle on behalf of the University of South Carolina, its schools, colleges, campuses and other academic/service departments. This includes mass appeals for donations and all communications made via email, letters, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, pledge cards or any other direct mail procedure.  
 

Online Giving & Electronic Communication

Online giving is a secure and easy way to show your support for the University.  Supporters may choose to designate a gift to a particular school/college, department or other key initiative, or to the University's areas of greatest need. 
 
The Office of Annual Giving has partnered with the Pursuant Group to create and distribute electronic communication to alumni and friends of the University.  Videos include stewardship appeals, newsflashes, e-solicitations, and biographical updates.  Students and faculty are featured from across disciplines to showcase rankings, achievements, and collaborative research.
