Salkehatchie biology major Browning awarded Magellan Scholarship

Keith Browning, a biology major at USC Salkehatchie, has been awarded funding through the University's competitive Magellan Scholar Program. The Magellan Scholar Program of USC Columbia provides funding for undergraduate students to conduct academic research to assist USC faculty.

Browning is assisting Dr. Eran Kilpatrick with a study titled “Assessment of Reptile and Amphibian Habitat Components at Red Bluff Lodge County South Carolina.” The goal of the study is to assess plant diversity, soil types and groundcover features associated with major habitat types at Red Bluff Lodge, a 7,000 acre tract of land in Allendale County.

The study complements an on-going reptile and amphibian research project on the property.

Browning is from Fairfax, South Carolina.
