The college's innovative, dynamic programs of study are bolstered by emerging technologies and a firm interdisciplinary foundation. Our alliances with business and industry ensure relevant professional and pre-professional coursework, along with tightly supervised internships, which are the hallmark of our college.
The College of Hospitality, Retail & Sport Management prepares students for high-growth careers in fields such as: retail entrepreneurship; fashion merchandising; sport and entertainment management; resort, restaurant and hotel management; tourism management; network design, database and network management, project management and analysis.
Scholarships provide incentives needed to attract and retain the best students for the college and expand the college’s recruiting efforts in the state and region. You can give to a general scholarship or create a named scholarship starting at the $25,000 level. This level allows the scholarship to be endowed and therefore provide these needed funds into perpetuity. The capital remains intact and the earnings are used as scholarship funds.
Professorship in International Tourism
Creation of a professorship in International Tourism will provide the funds to hire a well-known scholar who could lead other faculty members in international tourism research projects. This would enhance the international reputation of the college and increase the potential for collaborative research. The professorship would also lead students and faculty in research projects benefiting industry.
International Tourism Research Institute
Tourism creates jobs, income, new businesses, and a better quality of life. The International Tourism Research Institute exists to make this happen in your community or for your business. The institute serves international, national, regional, state, and local clients. The mission of the institute is to provide innovative assistance focused on tourism-related issues to communities, regional development organizations, state and federal agencies, and individual businesses.
The Institute advocates on behalf of the tourism industry, focusing on tourism-related issues, providing credible data, and promoting the industry as a viable economic development strategy.
Center for Retailing
The mission of the Center for Retailing is to create and disseminate knowledge about retailing to the global retailing industry. As we move forward into the information age, the Center for Retailing is positioned to offer retailing education throughout the world through the internet, video-conferencing, and exchange programs.
A New Home
With our many friends, industry partners, alumni, parents and students, we are working to fulfill a long-held dream for the college - a new home. The space and updated facilities are desperately needed. We have outgrown the current space and design.
The College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management (HRSM)’s new home will become an icon in the heart of the rapidly evolving Innovista campus (Research Park). It will incorporate the much-needed space to grow all the programs in our care: Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, Retail and Fashion Merchandising, Sport and Entertainment Management and the Integrated Information Technology program. All of these forward-looking programs could double with the available space and appropriate design.
Our industries need the students we educate in all these fields. Our state needs these industries to prosper and continue to drive our state’s economy. Our youth need jobs in the areas that make our economy strong. A new home is an investment in the future for the college and the state of South Carolina.
